When did he get so big?

Big boy J with his block

We had fun last week with the talented Margie Briggs. She came over to take Jonathan’s one year (!) pictures and Jonathan hammed it up for the camera. Granted, he also attempted at various times to take the camera…

Getting one year pictures and putting a “Jonathan’s First Birthday” on the calendar have been reminders of just how quickly J-man’s first year has gone. It really doesn’t seem that long ago that we were taking him home from the hospital, clueless but happy, exhausted and exhilarated. I’ll be posting more about this in the coming weeks (what do you expect, I’m a first-time mommy?), but here’s a fun little list of things that J’s up to right now:

  • Walking. As you can see above, Jonathan’s pretty comfortable on his own two feet and has increased his speed and accuracy in placing those little toes over the last few months. He started taking steps before Christmas (almost 10 mos old) and now he’s practically running.
  • Jabbering. J hasn’t yet said “Dada” or “Mama” or anything else for that matter and connected it to a person or thing, but he’s jabbering away all the same. And all the time.
  • Snuggling. Wee man got a cold on Christmas day that has now gone through several iterations and is unfortunately still lingering. The upside to having a sick baby? He’s gotten so much snugglier over the last few weeks! Seriously, if he’ll let you hold him, you’ll probably get a hug.

More to come as his birthday approaches in the next two weeks!
